(no) SCHOOL AHEAD

(no) SCHOOL AHEAD is an ongoing series of public installations reflecting the Global Arms Industry on the streets of Europe. In the work, the “SCHOOL AHEAD” road signs at schools surrounding weapons companies are removed, and shrouded in the fabric used to cover the dead throughout the Islamic world, and the war torn regions in the Middle East.

With Europe being one of the largest manufacturers and exporters of Arms throughout the Globe, the series materialises the countless child fatalities, and civilian deaths caused by the weapons and chemicals made within European factories. The traditional Kaffan sheet that wraps the signs, removes the absent children that no longer cross their streets, or have schools to attend. This series began on the streets of Berlin during Kevin’s residency at ZK/U: The Centre for Art and Urbanistics.
